Just wondering what would be the cheapest brew that would result in something mildly alcoholic and resembling beer - fit for Scrooge himself?
He did eat Gruel - defined as;-
"Gruel is a food consisting of some type of cereal—oat, wheat, or rye flour or rice—boiled in water or milk. It is a thinner version of porridge that may be more often drunk than eaten and may not need to be cooked."
So maybe yeast cultured up from cast out beer bottles - or glasses dregs?
Maybe some spent grains if anything could be gained from them? - Colour perhaps?
Is it possible to toast spent grains and gain more colour from them?
Then fermentables - oats, rye flour and rice maybe? Or potatoes?
Or a box of Tesco Malt Wheats cereal?
For anyone willing to have a go -
What is the cheapest method to brew "A pint" - and the recipe.
How low can you go?
