    Hop bag floating on top.

Perhaps tap the fv on the side? That might encourage it to drop as it breaks the solid mass on the surface. Or give the fv a gentle swirl but make sure not to slop the wort as that could allow oxygen into it.

    Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul

He has to say that to promote it. He's not likely to say "it's an exhibition fight and he won't let me punch him" otherwise no one will pay for the ppv. It's all about the grift with the Paul brothers

    Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul

Jake Paul won't let anyone knock him out, it's in his contracts (or it was in earlier ones). I was hoping that Tyson would put an end to this ridiculous influencer boxing thing. They fleece their followers into paying for a ppv, thinking they are watching genuine sport.

    Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul

Apparently it's now classed as an exhibition match

    Hop bag floating on top.

I use a normal plastic bucket with lid. I never use an airlock, just clip the lid on fully then loosen/lift up about 1/4 of the lid. That way, I don't have to worry about liquid in the airlock being sucked back in. I use hop pellets and throw them loose into the fv when dry hopping. I've never...

    Hop bag floating on top.

If you aren't using a fermentation fridge but want to cold crash - I just leave my fv on the concrete garage floor overnight. Seems to do the job, as everything drops to the bottom

    What are you drinking 2024.

I agree, the price point that supermarkets want to sell at forces the breweries to cut back on hops etc - Brewdog have sold their souls to go down this route to maximise sales to the detriment of their beers. I haven't had an exceptional new Brewdog beer for a long time. Some of their older...

Is the Homebrew hobby in decline?

This!! I remember that all the online retailers were running short of kits during the first lockdown. I suspect all the new brewers from that period stopped as soon as they could go back to the pub. Also, the younger generations don't drink anywhere near as much as I did when it was a normal...

    Cheap 5l mini kegs

I think the problem with these kegs is the inner liner. If you rinse them with boiling water, the lining disintegrates which leads to the metallic taste. The lining probably wears out over time and repeated rinsing with anything above lukewarm water seems to reduce their life.

    Low Alcohol & Low Calorie

Finishing off my January low/af beers. I have 3 different ones still to try. The first is a ddh ipa, Lust for Life by Brulo. Very pale colour with a hoppy pine aroma. Slightly thin but not really noticeable with nice level of hops and bitterness (not surprising with Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic...

    What are you drinking 2024.

I had a Dead Pony just before Christmas as it used to be decent. I suspect it has changed sometime in the last 2 years

    Low Alcohol & Low Calorie

Just tried a Brooklyn Special Effects hoppy lager. I know they describe it as an amber but it was darker than I expected. Decent hoppy beer smell. The fluffy white head didn't last long. OK. This actually tastes like a beer. It isn't thin or watery and tastes decent - no powdery aftertaste...

    First timer advice on heatpads

Yes. You can fill it with cold water to cool the fv down if you are brewing in summer. You can even put a towel or t shirt over the fv with the bottom in the water to get a wicking effect and cool the top of the fv too.

    First timer advice on heatpads

Like I said earlier, I sit my fv in a brand new builder's trug. This means that if there is an explosive ferment, any overspill is kept in the trug and doesn't ruin any carpets etc. There is enough room between the trug and the fv to stuff an old beach towel for insulation

    First timer advice on heatpads

I sit my fv in a builders trug then stuff a beach towel between the fv and the trug. It's a nice, tightish fit and keeps the fv reasonably warm.

    What are you drinking 2024.

After my disappointing foray into low alcohol/af beers, I'm having a Northern Monk Faith followed by a Heathen. Its good to be back to proper beers at the weekend!

    Low Alcohol & Low Calorie

I agree but wouldn't other regular beers suffer the same in being delivered to the supermarket or is the effect not as pronounced?

    The Post Office Horizon Scandal

@Chippy_Tea Fujitsu knew from the beginning that the system didn't work properly but the point I was trying to make was that the PO also knew and continued with prosecutions after this. I think they stated that they were told by Fujitsu before 2010 but were still allowing prosecutions to...
