    Nice work Brewdog

Even if it is a PR stunt with their response, you have to give it to them for their marketing. It certainly works for their brand. I went to a beer tasting at the Brewdog bar in Newcastle and it was a lot of fun and informative I have to say... and I don't drink alcohol at all! (Despite making...

    elderflower champagne

I used the river cottage one but found there was too much lemon in it so I'd perhaps modify it or remove the lemons a lot sooner.

    OMG equipment

Oooo I'll look into that. I've been doing a rose petal and elderflower wines... looking forward to picking a lot this summer. So I'll have a look into this one. Thank you Moley :D

    OMG equipment

So I've only been making wine for perhaps 8 months now and really gotten into it... went from 2 demijohns to now 10 and I'm happily experimenting with all sorts of fruits etc... It wasn't until the past couple of weeks I got a proper bottle/demijohn cleaning brush. Granted, it's only about...

    3D printing uses in homebrew

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/m3d/the-micro-the-first-truly-consumer-3d-printer Even cheaper would be this one. Would work out about $300 USD for the printer and $75 USD for delivery. So all in £225 ish. I'm tempted to get one myself as I need one for work purposes ;-)

    Lamp from a demijohn

Over the weekend I noticed I had a small crack in one of my demijohns and I feel a bit gutted having to throw one out. So after searching the web, I saw this awesome tutorial on creating a lamp out of a demijohn: http://www.takecourageblog.com/2013/10/diy-glass-demi-john-lamp-and-fabric.html...

Tinned Peach Wine - my starting SG 1100

I'm wanting to use tinned peaches in a wine soon (seems you can't get pure peach fruit juice - urgh). I was wondering which tinned peaches you've used? Is there any specific ingredient/brand to avoid when making wine from tinned fruit?

Asda has several branded fruit juices 3 for £3 at the moment

Thought I'd share this since I've picked up a good bargain. I bought 3 for £3 of the Beet It Organic Beetroot juice (90% beetroot juice, 10% apple juice) at Asda today: http://groceries.asda.com/asda-webstore ... 0000429912 There are plenty of others going for 3 for £3 at the moment...

My Xmas wine batch was a success!

Indeed - I think it's good if we're having a get together though. Will definitely be using it again, but perhaps not with the fruit in it. I think leaving sliced oranges in with the wine was what turned it extremely sharp.

Getting harder to find grape juice in supermarkets

I highly recommend getting grape juice from Morrison's - they have a 5 for £4 on their 1 litre fruit juices or £1 each. I've made a few batches of WOW from the multiple flavours they have. Yeah they're all from concentrate but the ingredients don't list preservatives etc... and I've had no...

Making Wine from Sweets - what to avoid?

Put together a coffee wine in the spare DJ this evening for the time being, but I'm looking into rose petal wine for the next experiment. Thank you for the advice on this, I appreciate it. Are people actively encouraged to post about their experiments on here by the way? I don't know what the...

Making Wine from Sweets - what to avoid?

I don't drink alcohol myself, but I'm enjoying the process of making wine... so the experimental side of this all is what is appealing to me most! Plus if I can make something like a turkish delight flavouring, that's a bonus! Thanks for the advice all - and I'll check out the rose petal wine :)

Making Wine from Sweets - what to avoid?

Hey All, So I've been thinking about making wine from sweets since I'm due to have a spare DJ soon and working from the theory if it's got sugar, you can make alcohol from it, I was wondering if there are any specific ingredients I should avoid which would prevent it from becoming a wine? I...

    October Storm ?

That's gonna be a pain to sort out! Good luck  Nothing up here in Northumberland... in fact when I went out for my middle of the night smoke, no wind, a little clouds, no rain. Pleasant evening... even had a bunch of owls hooting to each other.

    Plum Wine Recipe

Haha well we're both newbies at this whole thing - so perhaps we did something wrong. One of the problems (?) may have been the damsons were very ripe - a week or so more and they would be floor mush. So we were initially concerned about that being the reason we had a putrid smell of rotting...
