Hi all,
Sorry if this has been asked before. Does anyone run a 10G 3V HERMS system off a 16amp controller? It's too much of a headache for me to go down the 30amp socket route. I plan to build a controller to power 2 2.75Kw elements (one at a time) and 2 pumps but I'm worried the element size won't bring 10g to a boil with just 1 element. Anyone running anything similar?

10 imperial gallons is 45 litres.
1 x 2750w element will be fine.
And provided you don't run them both at the same time (as you say) you don't need a 30a supply.

HERMS brings a slight complication to the project. Heat loss. Keep exposed pipe runs short and insulate everthing well.

Where is the second element being placed.?

Hi Mashbag, thanks for chipping in. Should be even less litres as the kettle are 10 US gallons. I'm glad I can get away with a 2.75 element otherwise I'd shelve this project before it starts.

I'll be using one element in HLT, the other in the boil kettle is the plan.

Regards HERMS it's just easier for me to get my head around and seems to be a good match with an insulated MLT.

Cheers
