Greetings,
The last time I added two packets of yeast, it was like a volcano.

Can I add the yeast on different days, to try and prevent it flowing out of the air trap??

For the inital fermentation is the U ring better than the single barrel??

Thanks,
Clive

Not really. If one pkt is sufficient then there's no point in adding a second one. The whole point of using two packets is to make sure you've got enough yeast at the point of pitching for either the strength or the batch size. Most packets are geared up for a batch of 20-25 litres of normal strength beer.

I'm a bit dozy tonight. What's this about U rings and single barrels?

Greetings,
I am using 2 x 12l beer kits. Each has a 6g yeast.

The first batch, didn't see any bubbles in the air trap. The second batch I used one Mangrove Jack 15g and one 6g. It was volcanic, with foam pouring out.

The current batch I used two Continental 6g yeasts. It is fermentating vigoursly but not foaming.
