Hi All
I have had the most enjoyable afternoon making real cider, Living in the West Country with a small orchard all cider apples mixed sorts, We picked up all the windfalls over the last 2weeks and today pressed them which gave us 15gals of apple juice this has been placed in our cider house to start to ferment no yeast .
We hope to pick in 2weeks time as the apples are high in sugar 1060 but light in juice we hope to make 250 gals but it could be more

Sounds wonderful - best of luck - keep us posted.
I'm working on the residents of my village to get together and form a cider club so we can do something similar.
Seeing all the apples grown around here going to waste irritates me!!

We set up a cider club in our village last year. Started with 4 families. Looks like there'll be 8 or 9 this year. Just collected first lot of windfall.

Have just tumpted up just over a ton of apples from my 19 tree orchard these will be pressed in about 10 days time we hope to tump the mid/ lates next weekend
