Yeah, this was great. I'd be surprised if the auction house was in on it.

I read that earlier on BBC news smacks of a stunt.

Difficult to see how this was anything but a set-up.

A battery of some kind would have been needed to work the ‘shredder’, yet the painting had been hanging for some years. There would be no guarantee that the battery would still be powerful enough. For someone to have changed or installed a battery, the gallery would have had to be involved.

Sotherby’s wins as they sold the painting for £1M and take their commission.

Banksy wins as he sold his painting for £1M.

The buyer wins as the painting immediately doubles in value.

Banksy wins again as the painting becomes the most talked about piece of art in the world.

Sotherby’s wins again thanks to the worldwide publicity.

It’s a stitch-up, albeit a funny one.

Why don't they stop talking about wanksy all this "unknown artist" ******** is exactly that, I couldn't care less who he is.

Ye there was some seriously 'artistic' graffiti around a place I used to live, years ago. Still annoyed the **** out of me though, and by rights the perpetrators ought to be in jail.
