Hi all, just got my new bench top capper, when i cap a bottle it dents the top of the cap and holds the bottle tight which takes quite a pull to release,is this normal or am i doing something wrong or is it faulty.

I had a similar thing when I first got my capper, but soon got going properly :thumb:

... it may be you're not pressing down far enough and not 'closing' the cap down fully :!:

I found pressing a bit firmer sorted it out :thumb:

cheers baz have tried it all ways when it travells all the way down its then when it sticks up inside the cup and it dents the top of the cap.

Hmmmm :wha: obviously the next thing to try is a little less pressure  I'm sure once you get the hang of just how much pressure you need you'll be up and running :thumb: I do recall I had the same problem with my first few goes, but now rattle through a bottling in short order :thumb: good luck :thumb:

Make sure the height of the capper is adjusted so that it fastens the cap and not crushes the cap ;) . . .Sounds as though you are one notch too low on your bottles. . . . Vaseline smeared lightly on the bell might also assist
