Well, changed slightly from my original idea of a 6x clone but not no much.
25L
2.5 Kg Light Spraymalt
300g Medium Spraymalt as LHBS ran out of Light
250g Crystal Malt
300g Brewing Sugar
65g Fuggles 90min
Protafloc tab 15min
22.5g EKG 15min
22.5 EKG 80c Steep
Yeast S-04
Got myself an electrim boiler to help things and despite some problems I've read about problems with boiling etc. I had none :thumb:
Used a mash/sparge bag. I tied the larger perf bottom off with some nylon cord to try to reduce particles coming out.
I followed T_S guide for this one. Except used 15 ltr for the inital steep.
Dissolved DME in cold water stuck the crystal malt in and brought up to 70c. Out with the crystal malt.
Used my additional 12 ltrs to pour through the malt and squeezed out.
Had to reuse bag for hops as forgot to get hop strainer
Up to boil and in with the Fuggles, boiler seemed to maintain nice roll on about 6 3/4 on the stat.
Other hops sugar and Protafloc in, as per recipe.
Lost about 5 Litres on this boil - is that normal or was I boiling to hard???
adj. OG was about 1055. So liquored back to 1046 which should give me 25l @4.5%
Used bag and sieve and strained into FV.
Dumped FV into black bin full of iced water and dumped 2 1.5l (sanitised) bottles of frozen water into the FV. Got down to 22c in about an about 50 mins.
whisked like buggery. Pitched the yeast at 20c.
I really enjoyed doing this brew, bit more inolved than my last ones and (sort of) my own recipe. Can see AG not being far away at all now
Any suggestions for a name greatly appreciated, had thought possibly 51/2X
