I've had a second occurrence in a year of an initially tasty blonde AG ale taking-on a cidery tone after a couple of months. There are a number of common factors in the recipes as follows:

1 - Both fermented with S04 (but i've used in other brews without any problem)

2 - Both use an aroma/flavouring hop for bittering (goldings and cascade respectively)

3 - Both use lager malt

4 - Both have a very small addition (1%) of pale chocolate malt

Can anyone see anything that I'm missing please?

Thanks for responding wendy1971. No, it's definitely an ale, fermented with S04 at around 20 degrees.

What were you thinking?
