Hi. I've read a few American books on brewing where they say to sanitise bottles in a dishwasher rather than use chemicals.

Has anyone tried it? I wash my bottles in it and they come up sparkling....can a 70° wash do the business? And with or without any tablets/bleach/etc?

I wouldn't risk the dishwasher to fully sanitise bottles. I put my bottles through the dishwasher to get them clean and give them a 20 second blast with a small hand held steamer my wife bought for cleaning her oven. You can pick them up pretty cheap off the internet.

I chuck some caustic crystals in with the bottles and they do an extra rince cycle at the end. Still use starsan when bottling however.

I would think that the bottles would have to be clean already and that you must use the heat dry option to get them hot enough...I've also heard of people putting them in the oven as well
