Planning on doing my third extract brew this week so still pretty new to this.

I would appreciate the Forums views on using Citra as the only hop?

Looking at doing a 23L brew. Going to use 3kg of extra light DME and 200 g of Crystal Malt. Any suggestions at the amount of hops needed? I hear that a little Citra goes a long way!

Thanks

Citra is great. Pretty punchy though.
Assuming you want a nice hoppy pale ale then I would go about 20g at the start of the boil, a further 20g 15 mins before the end and then 30-40g after you turn the flame out.

Thanks puravida.

How long do you tend to keep the hops in for after you have turned the flame out?

Just until the wort has cooled down and you are transferring to your fermentation bucket.
Ideally use a little mesh bag so you don't have to strain it.

leave it 30 mins then use (if you have 1) your wort chiller, btw you only need to boil extract for 45 mins , and thats it really , if they are in a hop bag just give it around an hour then remove from pot .
