Around the middle of December I put on a batch of geordie bitter from a can that I know is at least 25 years old. I tried some for the first time today and it's not great. Smells very sweet, almost like treacle and is slightly carbonated, but tastes sour. I'm pretty sure everything was properly sterilised when I put the brew on and I can't see any colonies of bacteria in the brew so I don't think it's infected.
Do you think it might be down to the age of the tin, and is there perhaps any way of making it more palatable? I'd be nice to know if there's any chance of rescuing it before I pour it all away!
