I have several 23 litre corny kegs, which I use for fermentation and serving. They are Chinese ones from Kegtopia and seem good quality, and have a 60PSI pressure relief valve built in. Apart from the O-rings and valve insert they are all-metal, with no plastic/metal boot or top shield.
I was wondering about using heat to sterilise them; If I put a few litres of water in and seal up, then put on top of a gas hob, they should build up pressure to 60psi and then blow-off through the relief valve, rather like a pressure cooker. This should take them up to about 150C and sterilise everything,
I would check the blow-off works OK first with the keg full of water and using CO2.
Anyone done this? the only worry is producing a "steam bomb"!!

I am not sure this is a good idea superheated steam is very dangerous and at 60 psi is under a lot of pressure

If you want to boil it remove the valve first
