Hi,

My second AG brew is currently fermenting and I am hoping to get it bottled before christmas. I will bottle as much as I can and keep the rest in a keg (I don't have a secondary fermenting bucket, so I will have to put the sugar into the keg, siphon the beer into the keg and finally siphon it back out and into the bottles).

How much sugar should I be looking to add? I have approximately 23 litres in the bucket at the moment. I understand that bitters require relatively low carbonation.

This is the recipe I used if anyone is interested. http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/Downton-cookoo

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

It's down to personal preference but anywhere between 80g and 100g seems to be a general guide. I plump for 100g myself.

How long has it been on the go?

Hi Dan,when i lived in Salisbury where i was born i used to go to the Cuckoo fair annually & always had a great time.
I used to drink the Hopback beers in The Wyndham Arms just off of escort road in Salisbury which was where the Brewery was originally sited & was only a 10 min stagger from my house. The brewery was in the converted buildings at the rear of the pub, probably old stables or the like.Another good day out is Oak Apple day at Wishford in the Wyle valley where all the local pubs around Salisbury entered in the tug of war, pulled across the river. ken.

Hi,

Sorry, I don't know much about the area. My father in law wanted to do a bitter and I just happened to find this recipe on using Google. Fingers crossed this one turns out OK, AG#1 was a major let down!
