Just got started kit

Just got my starter kit from home brew online. Looking through the instructions and all the bits and bobs and I have a question.

Obviously I need to attach the tap to the barrel, but it also mentions a bottling stick? Not sure what this is or how to use it. Also, what do you use to transfer liquid to your hydrometer?

Its the one i watched when i bought my little bottler, glad it was of use.
