Attempting my first lager on Monday and just starting to plan things out.

I intend to use a liquid yeast. At what temperature would do the starter? As I'm aware lagers are brewed at a lot lower temp than ales

Depends how much yeast you need, how strong your og is etc. Use a yeast calculator like Mr malty. Usually need a few steps.

How many days prior would you start the starter ?
If I'm brewing on a Sunday and my starter needs only one stage then I'll do it on Tuesday evening. The starter itself will be finished typically by Thursday evening then I take it off the stir-plate and switch the brew-fridge on to cold crash it. By the time I need to pitch into the chilled wort the starter will be clear enough to decant off 90% of the spent 'beer' from the top leaving just a few cm to swirl up the settled yeast so it can be tipped out of the flask into the wort.
