For anyone with a bit more computer knowledge than me!!

My laptop stopped working last week and I took it to be fixed - it`s working again but one of the 1gb built in memory cards is broken, my laptop will run on 1gb but is a bit slow - the man at the shop wanted 60quid to put a new one in which i declined as i thought it was a little steep, looking on line i can buy a new one for around 15quid delivered - can i just plug this in? My question really is can i upgrade my ram from 2 to 3 or 4 Gb? Is it possible to run a 2gb and 1 gb card alongside?
My laptop is a sony vaio vgn-nr32l it came with 2gb memory on two 1gb cards.

This site seemed pretty good for price,

Hmm memory often has to be put installed in pairs, i.e. 2x 1gb modules or 2x 2gb modules not 1x 1gb and 1x 2gb.

That said some systems run quite happily, personally i'd google your Viao model and memory upgrade to see what comes back in forums.

cheers hariy biker - looks like 2 x 1gb is the most I can run so will get a replacement 1gb card - seen them for around 15quid delivered :thumb:

Thanks for the help chaps :D
