ill put it down to wild yeast then..i have done exactly the same as always with regard to sterilising and never had this taste..unless i forgot to put in camden tablet ?..i thought it might just be the beer and hops i used, never used challenger and northdown before but im sure they do not impart TCP flavours.
 
i use milton but rinse 3-4 times after emptying simply because steriliser will obviously kill bacteria( ie. yeast) no probs so far but i only brew kit beer as missus wont put up with the smell of brewing malt...... may have to eject the missus :rofl:
