Hi All

I'm bottling my honey wheat beer later today, I was going to prime with honey dissolved in a little boiled water. Weight for weight, should I use the same amount of honey as I would priming sugar?

Only 77% of honey sugars are fermentable by brewing yeast...so adjust the amount of honey up accordingly.

I'd suggest blitzing the priming solution in the microwave before priming - this will make sure you've removed any bacteria or bugs that may want to munch on your shiney beer's unfermented sugars as these are in suspended animation in the really sweet honey.

Thanks for this Farmbrew

Luckily I found a pitching rate calculator on the web which came to pretty much the same conclusions as you.

Wrote about it here.
