Can anyone help with my SG calculations.

I have a carton of Red Grape Juice.
It states 12.5g sugar per 100ml I calculate that this should have an SG of 1.0475
When I take a reading my hydrometer reads 1.062 which would imply 15.92g sugar per 100ml.

I don't seem to be allowed to attach images to posts so here are the links

I have checked my hydrometer against cooled boiled water and it reads 1.000

Your calculations are indeed correct :hmm:
I'm assuming the grape juice wasn't at 60°c when you tested it :D
That's odd. The carton does say "typical" analysis which suggests it varies, but that's quite a large difference.

:D nope, juice at room temp which is 18 C just now.

Good to know I am not going mad or have lost my math skills!

I guess I will take the SG of all juice from now on and not believe the label!
