Last sudden after being a bit drunk on my supply i decided to go AG and start buying the kit, but i also decided to go buy the kit to do herms as and when i have a few brews under my belt, i bidded on a shiny pot on the german ebay but now my head has cleared i know exactly what i need to buy so they kindly cancelled it and have sent me the prices to deal with them outside of ebay...i was pleasantly suprised and i am buying 2 x 100ltr pots and a 60ltr thermo..What do you guys think of the prices ? i might be driving some people to munich for the uefa and whilst they are watching footy, getting drunk i might nip up to collect it if shipping is to much. No just to start looking for the pid, probes and elements etc etc..any suggestions ?

Those prices are pretty good - esp with the Euro on the way down vs pound. They look like prices you'd pay about 6 years ago..

Yep, shipping may be an issue...when you get your shineys into the car in Munich will your mates be hitching  :?:

When I bought mine they allowed you to combine shipping on two pots, so at a guess you'd be looking at just over 30 euro's. Which considering the size of the things really isn't that bad!
Personally I think the things are an absolute bargain, they'll last you forever and if god forbid you ever need to sell them on I think you'd get most of your money back.

Assuming that's catering.fr, they've always done 'direct prices' but most folk just buy it now and don't ask  . As Keith's said the postage is very reasonable especially when combined but if they're close to your visit why not pick them up

pittsy is on the money there, thats was the same they quoted me for shipping the one pot, the link is the same place i am getting mine from, send them a message as they speak good english..but beware !!...dont mention the war

the tun mod is well documented, best imho to avoid the thermopots with taps fitted in the side if planning on a bottom drain mod, though u could reuse the off the shelf tap hole for an expensive(if accurate) dial thermometer ;)

fitting in a bottom dran within the insulated base is one thing, fitting in electrics for elements may require raising on feet or a skirt though, and insulation of a stockpot hlt is a lot easier..

?? would an induction hob heat up an induction plate dropped into a thermopot through both bases and the insulation???? hmmmm hehe:evil: if so it could give u a 70l Thermopot virtually off the shelf with perhaps a tap replacement the only mod needed??

for the bottom drain thermopot mod, mrlard aka the home brewbuilder sells a cut down SS skin fitting, a lot easier than chopping and grinding down one..
