Thoughts on heat belts please?

Anyone got any thoughts on the heat belts you can buy...are they good or not? i dont have much room in my home and have under floor heating so theres not always a constant heat

I got a immersion fish tank heater for 15 quid and that does the job :thumb:

Heat belts are good, but you do need some form of temperature control.
A popular way is to use a time switch, ON6 OFF6 etc.
Another more involved way is an STC1000.

a 100w heater are better as the 50w tend to struggle

I only use my heatbelts for short bursts to bring the temperature back up and they are perfect for this.

If you are looking to use them as a permanent solution then as evanvine said you will need some kind of thermostatic conrol.

Yeah i dont have a plug in the room where i ferment my brew so i would do the same only need to use it to bring the temp up so i guess i could use a fish tank heater for this purpose as well??
