Vivarium Heat Mats

I’m thinking of getting a Vivarium heat Mat to use with an all rounder that isn’t in a bare fridge but is in a jacket, and just pop it underneath. I’m wondering if 5w is ok, or if more power would be needed? There are also 7w,14w or 20w available too. I have a tube heater in a fridge that is 40w so that seems a lot compared to these mats.

I guess it depends on the ambient temp. 5w is not a lot of heating power.

It’s in a garage and it gets very cold in the winter, probably been between 0 and 10 the last few months. Maybe I need to go with the 20w

I’ve got a brew fridge in the shed which uses a 7w reptile heat mat. They are IR so don’t get warm, they just heat up other objects. Mine sits under a ceramic tile in the fridge and when the temperature is around freezing outside I can still maintain 18 odd degrees in the brew fridge.
