I'm planning to get an IPA on this weekend, usingingredients I have on hand:
UK lager malt (Warminster)
Wheat Malt
Porridge Oats
Small bittering addition with Magnum
300g Citra (probably 100g in the whirlpool, two dry-hop additions of 100g, one during fermentation and one after?)
Ferment with either CML "5" or CML Voss Kviek
I'm wondering what proportion of wheat malt/oats to add, I'm thinking about 10% of each should be enough to help add some haze?
I'm aware with the lager malt this will turn out pretty light in colour, and there's not a lot of malty flavors to balance out the hops, but I'm thinking it may work OK with citra as the primary hop?
Thinking to calculate the total malt quantity for an OG around 1.060, mash around 66c, should end up about 6.5% with an FG around 1.010, calculate the bittering addition for about 50 IBU?
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome!
