whiskey bottles to store wine

i've started to bottle the first of my cherry wines i made this year and i'm runing out of bottles

so i'm going to use aload of empty whiskey bottles and thought id just fill them without sterilising and use the original corks and see if the wine picks up some of the flavour
do you think the alcohol from the whiskey will be ok to sterilize the bottles?

I occasionally re-use single malt Scotch whisky bottles and would never bother washing or disinfecting one the first time around.

Your Irish bottles should be fine too :thumb:

Sounds great, especially if you leave 1/2" of whiskey in the bottom :whistle:
