Hey, making a counterflow chiller, because I'm new to brewing and apparently like over-engineering and spending buttloads at B&Q and online :) So, my question is, I am using John Guest Speedfit hose connectors to connect garden hose to chiller, outlet for water, and outlet for chilled wort. The Speedfit fittings are only supposed to be used for liquids up to 65 Celsius.
However, for the wort inlet (boiling wort coming into chiller), I'm going to be dealing with boiling liquid, presumably at greater temps than 65. Can I use a brass hosetail for this???!? I'm not sure about brass and leeching of chemicals due to heat/ph? I see there are some sexy nickel-plated brass hosetails, but I doubt those would be a good plan...unless I like nickelbrew.
Cheers.
