I remember my dad changing our aerial wire to get 625 lines on the telly instead of 405 lines. The difference was like normal telly to 4K today.
I was only a tiddler at the time so it might be a false memory but I think it was so we could receive bbc2.
What I do remember is I was amazed how thick the aerial wire was compared to the old one.
We were also the first people to get a colour TV in the area.
They only broadcast test programs, like a milk bottling plant, must of seen it a thousand times, still have nightmares, or sport.
I used to charge my mates at school to come round and watch football, sometimes they'd bring their dad's.
We had the colour TV on top of the black and white one, they were both on at the same time as we had to watch normal telly on the black and white one but didn't want to miss anything new they might have broadcast in colour.

We were also the first people to get a colour TV in the area.

We had one of the first redifusion colour TV's in the street that was back in the day when people left their front doors unlocked and neighbours would give a quick knock and walk in, we had a constant stream of folk coming to view the new amazing TV.

We had one with a lock but lift receiver, tap out your number with ten taps for zero and pause in between and off you went ...
I used to charge my older sisters 5p to do it for them when no one was in. Had the art of fast finger tapping down to a tee t as I seem to remember my oldest sisters boyfriends number having a lot of 8 and 9 ‘s in it

I most certainly do and wonder if these actually do taste like the originals.

Indeed.
My lot now communicate by voice notes (too much hassle to text apparently ) or seemingly random pics of either their face or their knees in snapchat. While having a phone permanent in their hand.
Modern technology is way out of hand and I believe it has a lot too answer for people's social well being.I know I use my phone a lot but there are those that can't convey a conversation or perceive a question whilst using their phones and we use our ears to listen and mouths to speak.I prefer a chin wag rather than texting back and forth.

I most certainly do and wonder if these actually do taste like the originals.

What about the egg & milk, liquorice and the treacle dainties as well.Had a look a few minutes ago and there are a few retro sweets coming back.

Sure do. From the shop at the bottom of Creggan hill it had a big glass cabinet inside the door full of all sorts. Lovely. Would have my teeth out on it now though.
Our wee shop in sevenoaks had whopper bars in last year and they were 50p for a couple,I mind a strip of 10 for about 2p or 5p but they were a hell of a lot cheaper.
