. I trust that he people of Scotland, if they have the choice, will make the choice that is right for them

This is the point how can they make the right decision when they don't know what will happen as Devexwarrier posted.

So how are you going to pay for Defence, Universities, Health etc as Devexwarrier posted, are you going to blindly vote to be independent and hope they can sort it later or have all these details already been discussed so the move will be quick and painless.
Think of the opportunities for the Scottish politicians who hand out the newly created, highly paid jobs.

I think I see what you mean. How can they make a choice if they are not reliably informed of the consequences of voting to leave. Yes, good point. We can take the Brexit referendum as a case in point. One would hope that the voters are reliably informed, but we can't guarantee that. Then again, there will be those who vote to leave at any price and those who vote to stay at any price. Not ideal, but it doesn't mean that a third party should necessarily deprive Scotland of its status as a country and it's individual democratic rights.

How can you vote at a General Election when you don't know howbthe next 4 to 5 years are going to pan out?.....

Well thats easy, using the same thought process as we use for all our decisions where we can't see the future. We have a right good think about it and then put our X in the box. Then we live with the consequences, good bad or indifferent.

Just in case the thread gets closed, and we are going round and round a bit, let me say as OP, that it has been a great discussion. Thanks all. I've certainly learned from it and, I have to admire @foxy 's tenacity even though I don't agree with him.
How can you have a discussion if everybody agrees?

You vote on what is in the Manifesto and hope over the next few years they do what they said they would.

Exactly. Often they don't. We don't however, use that as a reason why we should no longer have General Elections.

The difference is they tell us what they plan to do, have they told you how they are going to pay for Defence, Universities, Health as @devexwarrior asked earlier in the thread?

I wonder if Labour gets into power will that cool the demand for independence in Scotland?

SNP's biggest enemy in Scotland tends to be Labour.
Any Scottish members have a view on this?

Only scanned this as I am half watching the Germany/Spain game.
Plans for independent s Scotland.
Imagine they mention defence or universities somewhere
I am watching the game i will wait for someone to quote it.

Edit - nothing i could find.

Actually, scratch that, mentions neither defence nor education.

Does mention Dundee has a huge gaming sector. Rocester games I would imagine.

The original White Paper from 2014 outlines Defence and Education.

The latter is something that would be based on policy of any future government.
