Hey folks :)
Just made this up last night as my first kit, followed all the instructions and all went well.
Checked it this morning and could see no airlock activity at all. Does it take longer to kick in or should I be seeing something by now?

I did mine at 18°C and it took a couple of days to start bubbling.

Cool, guessing my temp is about the same so hopefully see some action soon :)

I would say so. Mine was quite a slow brew but well worth it in the end.

Just bottled this tonight - tastes great already! 4 weeks in fermenter and took ages to ferment out. Fermentation took about 24 hours to start but then went mad with foam clogging up airlock 3-4 times! Lasted at least 2 weeks.

You were right about this, it's now nicely carbonated and tastes even better! I was going to try and finish my Nelsons Revenge before I started on this, but it now seems unlikely.
I was supposed to be going down the pub tonight, but SWMBO has changed her mind. I'm secretly quite chuffed as I can tuck into a few of these and watch the footy! I'll have to go steady though I think, have a feeling these might creep up on you!

The Youngs kits have raised the bar! Very,very tasty beer for homemade.
I have always fancied the nelsons revenge as well though,is it a 40 pint kit and did you brew it as per instructions ?

To be honest, it was my first one and I cocked it up a bit by putting too much water in (I had 25ltr), but in fairness it's turned out Ok and perfectly drinkable. It's just not my favourite style of beer and while I've got something remotely hoppy, it will come second best.
I have to say it's one that gets better as the weeks go on though and I didn't have the stuck fermentation issue that some have with Wherry.
I will contradict myself now by saying that I fancy doing the Sundew, it's always been a nice pint when I've had it in the pub.

Not arf! Mine went into the barrel just shy of 7%!
Yes, I've had about a pint and a half and I'm noticing the effects already! For some reason I brewed it short to 21ltr, in hindsight this was a bad idea!

Sorry, yes it's a 40 pinter.
In my experience it creeps up and then repeatedly slaps you around the chops!!!
Think the Nelsons Revenge is a 36 pinter, although a while since i done a Woodfordes....

Bottled it this week and am planning to let it condition for my usual 10-12 weeks before touching it (have quite a bit of stock to see me through until then) Will this result in too much loss of hop flavour? Any views on this?
