Made a yeast starter with some dark liquid malt extract yesterday.Didn't have any light stuff.

Starter itself appears to be fine but as I am making a Kolsch... ish today.

I'm wondering that as its a dark starter what kind of impact will a 1L starter have on the typically light style of a kolsch?

Any thoughts or experience?

Cheers

Limited experience, but I'd probably ferment the starter out then cold crash to drop out as much yeast as possible. I'd then discard most of the wort just using enough to swirl the yeast back into suspension before pitching. In short I'd want to get as little of the dark LME as possible into the finished beer

I like this answer, hadn't thought of cutting down the wort.
