@Horners, excellent! There's a Super-U just down our road.

Sampled a few Affligem Tripel over the last week which is also troublesome to the head the next day.

Oh well, it's something.

A GH stout then a foray to the keg in the shed seeing as it's a bit cooler now ..dark ale, drinkable but nothing to go mad over ..but I need the keg! Plus a sneaky try of the other keg..a muntons Belgian..nicely carbed but again nowt crazy even after a couple of months....

Tried the first bottle of my Old Peculiar clone, maybe a bit early, as it was bottled less than two weeks ago.

It was a bit under-carbed, but tasted just like.......Old Peculiar....result!athumb..
Which recipe did you follow? I noticed that Theakstons are now telling us what's in it and it's close but not the same as the recipe in Graham Wheeler's book! I feel a clone attempt coming on for Christmas...

Last night I could not wait any longer and after only three weeks I opened one of my Mr Beer craft Churchill's Nut Brown ale. At the start it was a very strong taste and I did not think I was going to like it. However, as I went down the glass it got better. I think it needs a bit more time but it is getting there and the head lasted all the way down the glass.

Back on my falconer's Flight, founders all day IPA clone...a jalfrezi and a load of YouTube Star Wars scores....the force is with me!

It was based upon the GW recipe, although I reduced the chocolate malt by a third and increased the crystal by 100g, to soften the flavour. I used MJ Liberty Bell yeast, plus a small pack of kit yeast to deal with the high OG of 1.070.

I haven't done a Pepsi challenge yet, against a bottle of the real thing, but I reckon it will stand up well.

A couple of these last night. Hastily purchased a dozen of them 'blind' begore getting on ferry at St Malo. Pretty neutral tasting lager but at £1.30ish for

very sturdy 650ml swing top bottles seemed like a no lose situation.

Basic Saison - now in the corny a month - not sure Im going to get on with this, not a style Im familiar with. Nice and fixzy but very peppery. Also not particularly clear- is this where I jogged the keg a bit or is it meant to be a bit cloudy?

Hmmm!

This is a Dry Hopped Coopers Lager that has only been carbonated and conditioned for 10 days ...

... so maybe your saison needs a bit longer to condition and clear?

PS

Disturbing the bottom sediment may also be the problem so wait a few days and try again.

On a happier note, a quick snifter before bed of Darkstar Festival clone probs six weeks in the PB and a nice drop. A timely reminder that I got into this to brew cask conditioned traditional English ales before getting bamboozled by all the different styles I have read about on here these last 7 months.

After realizing my last brew is ruined (don’t think I rinsed everything well enough after sterilizing ) I’ve opened a well earned Westvleteren 12. Time to sit back and enjoy the moment.
Happy Thursday everyone.

The Coopers larger was the first brew I made with the normal (32 bottle) FV. It would never be classed as a really special drink but it was more than drinkable, after time. Due to there being a lot more bottles, I did take some time to get through them all. More than half were costumed after 2 months in the bottle. By then it was a very clear drink with an OK amount of fizz. The head was never the best and I often thought that I had done something wrong. Other beers past its were food with fizz and head so I just took it that it was this particular kit that was not too grear.

I hate a gassy brew and all the accompanying belching! The Coopers Lager has a very citrus taste which at the moment is a bit harsh, but with a bit of luck and a few weeks on the shelf, it will mellow into a very palatable brew.

I've just sampled another two of my "Classic" collection from Morrisons.

This Brakspeare Bitter was "passable" but I wouldn't be proud of it ...

... whereas this Jennings Cumberland is "very nice" and one I would offer to friends, relatives and neighbours!

However, I won't be looking for a Recipe for either!

Three down, three to go, but I'm still searching for a brew that I would be happy to replicate! abigt

I have a Cumberland Ale clone in FV at the moment. Yeasties are working their magic while I'm away on hols. Trying to replicate this one because it's one of my wife's faves on tap. IMHO Cumberland never tastes the same out of a bottle as it does from the cask.

I must admit, the heavy aroma hoped ales, especially the American styles I find a bit too over the top on the hops. So tonight I'll be pouring a nice AG bitter I put together ~5.9% ( a little too strong for me though) and my dirty dish water London Porter, which is now looking a lot better after 3 + weeks in the bottle.
