So after some while the urge to brew has come back & I've been getting my stuff together, this means I've obviously been cleaning & sanitizing etc. I have had some residue of some sort in the bottom of my brew kettle that hasn't come off with the simple things like Bicarbonate of Soda & a sponge so I am now going to resort to Bon Ami Stainless Steel & Copper cleaner. Has anyone used this?

Also I have managed to snag a Tesco Basket which I would like to use to hold my grain bag when I'm sparging. Obviously loads of people before me have touched this basket so I'm going to clean with Star San & Bon Ami, would this be enough or would you guys not even go close to something like this?

If you want to use the Tescum basket it will be fine. Remember you will be boiling your wort, so any plague germs from shoppers will get killed in the boil. You should see the state of my mash bag, I've had it for about 4 years and never washed it (I'm sure this includes getting pooped on by birds when hanging outside to dry)

Good to know mate thought sanitation was the most important part in brewing?

Try vinegar or kettle descaler. These are acidic; bicarb is alkaline - different tack.

Tried Vinegar mate didn't work got some little bits of but nothing major! Just gunna use Bon Ami heard good things.

I've cleaned my kettle out with non scent washing up liquid and some Kleen King the kettle looks shiny but it still has these very very small marks or dots at the bottom... Not a lot but their there, will this be an issue? Or could it just marks from general use?
