Hi guys!
So summer is on the horizon and I'm planning on doing a 5 gallon batch of my cherry turbo cider. It seems to be a favourite amongst friends and family (and myself!) and makes rather fruity and refreshing drink if i do say so myself :-)

My usual 1 gallon recipe is as follows...

2.5L ASDA apple juice
2L ASDA apple and cherry juice
280g brewing sugar (sorry, this is an edit, forgot to include it!)
1 cup strong black tea
1tsp pectolase
1tsp yeast nutrient (DAP)
1pk Bulldog cider yeast (sweet or medium)

I'm wondering if the DAP will be good enough for the larger batch as it can be toxic to the yeast? I've read that making meads normally requires some other nutrients that aren't toxic (Fermaid O, which i have some of), would I be able to use this at all?

Also, will 1pk of that yeast be ok or will i need a couple packets to be safe?

As always, your experience and knowledge is gratefully appreciated! :-) cheers!

After about a month or 2 of bottle conditioning, its a beautiful red colour, not overly deep but not light either. Its crystal clear too. The taste though... huge cherry hit, tastes amazing. Definitely have a go :-)

Also, apologies for the forgotten sugar addition to bump up the ABV, this should give around 6% in the end

I've got some Cherry Lowciz (Lidl offer) which I'm going to do a TC with at some point. Probably a better bet than the Asda juice.

Just wondering which Apple and cherry you use....one I've just looked at is only 25% juice with water and sweeteners..

It's probably the one you found. It works well for a TC!

I've seen a good few people go for this stuff in TC's and WOW's. I wouldn't mind trying it myself, but I was lazy and went with the easy "pour it all in" job. It wasn't bad for a quick experiment, much better than the apple and mango TC I did in parallel... it stank for a good while, then when it didn't, it was described as a peach bellini rather than a mango cider...

I can't really understand why people keep putting `stuff' into apple juice for turbo cider. After all if you're making real cider you just squish the apples and chuck some cider yeast into the juice and bingo you've got cider. If you're brave of course you don't even need the yeast.
So that's my recipe for turbo cider - supermarket apple juice, yeast.
Don't know why anyone would put yeast nutrient in, or tea, or citric acid (like real cider is short of acid!)
