Hi, anyone done any of the Bull Dog kits. I have the Easter Chocolate Stout on the go at the moment which smells great, its a slow fermentation though its been going for 20 days now. I also started the Evil Dog Double IPA yesterday. Both these kits are over 3kg and seem to be very professional in presentation. I saw them on offer at £19.99 each against £26.99 so had to give them a go.

I did the Evil Dog a while ago, at the time I was pretty much exclusively a drinker of stouts / porters and wanted a change. Thinking I was clever I brewed it slightly short and added some malt to up the ABV. It took it to about 10% or so; it was rocket fuel. It was nice enough, and as I know love DIPA's and hoppy IPA's I would probably really enjoy it as there was a lot of hop punch- but I wouldn't mess with what was in the box malt wise.

I think that it was released as a limited edition kit about 5 years ago - reports were that it had a very strong chocolate taste.

Only Bulldog kit I have done is the 4 Fingered Jack which is a hoppy pale ale. I like it and have brewed it 3 times but not seen many other people comment on it.

Mixed results with these. Brewed Pennine Peak and Cobnar Wood, both turned out pretty good. Have also made Triple Tykes, for reasons unknown this stuck at 1.018, I drank it but it wasn't the greatest.

What I like about these is the bag thing the malt comes in, after pouring most of it into the FV it's really easy to get the remainder out by part filling with warm water, putting the cap on and giving it a shake. Do this a couple of time to get every last drop. Much less faff than the pouches.

I’ve got an Easter stout on the go too. 7 days in I’ve just checked the gravity and it’s around 1.020. It doesn’t taste good at all currently, real strong chocolate taste, but not a very nice one. I’m not one to mess with a kit until I’ve tried it as per instructions first time round, but I might have to add some coffee to balance the flavour. Keen to hear others views first...

My Easter Stout turned out well but strong @6% It improved with age because it tasted NEW in the early days (1 month) it lost its Chocolate taste towards the end, after 4 months though

Not much chance of it lasting 4 mo ths here, I get too impatient. A month in a bottle tops. 6% is cool, I was drinking this stuff last night, delightful if you haven't tried it

Good to know it came out drinkable though! It literally smells vile at the minute. Some shocking reviews online too, then some good too. If it still hums in a week I'm gonna throw a handful of coffee beans in for 24 hours before bottling
