Her indoors decided to go outdoor and set some beer slug traps coz they were eating her precious plug flowers. She asked me to provide some bait from my brews! Hell no I said! She found some Bud in our son's room and used that (I know.... he is a bit of a disappointment!) and the next morning it was full of slugs. Slugs and my son like Bud....just worried that if she uses my beer they would like that better or would it be worse if they didn't?

Starting to plant out my veg. Using Tenants lager. See how the slugs like that! Might end up fighting eachother!

If you have any starters on the go you could culture up a special brew for them using anything sweet in your kitchen - even boiled sweets.

Would be a good name for a beer.

The trouble with beer traps is that you have to keep cleaning them out. The slugs start fermenting after a day or two and that does not smell nice!

I chuck the trub down the outside drain. It goes everywhere. The slugs seem to enjoy it while it lasts. I made a 10% ginger beer a few years ago. Chucked the remnants out the back. The slugs dined on the booze soaked chunks of ginger for quite some time.

Well, I can imagine that. But shouldn't you let the fermentation take its course? Plenty of fermentations smell a bit dodgy, but then end up with a wonderful product, given time. Give it a chance, and don't let your clearly anti-mollusc prejudices stand in your way! athumb..
