Some people like manage to like fit the word into like evert sentence and some of the like wonens world Cup team (who have been interviewed several times over the last few days) seem like especially talented when it come to this like particular annoyance.

Rant over.

I went to a Grammar school many moons ago and there were certain words we were not allowed to use in essays and "like" was one of them we would be marked down as in those days it was termed as not a real word

Yeah ..or the go "urrr" between every other words...like urrr like urrr like urrr...

The other one that seems to have become the norm is saying "personally I think" or "my personal view" why are we adding the extra word aheadbutt

It seems they are equally articulate as their male counterparts. There's equality, like.

These days, it seems that everyone on telly who is asked a question starts their reply with "So". Anyone else noticed that? It's getting right up my shonk, I can tell you.

That's the one for me. Drives me up the wall. Since when did a sentence start with the word 'so'? I actually think the people using it thinks it makes them sound more intelligent - which it absolutely does not.

In the good old days, my Mum would say "They didn't teach you that at school!" if I ever used even the mildest of swear words; and as for real swearing (or "Pit Language" as it was called) I hardly dared think it for fear of the retribution that would be coming my way!

Another one of Mum's sayings was "Ummm isn't a word!" This was when I was being interrogated over some crime or other and I was having to think of a plausible answer!

Judge Judy of TV fame uses it in the same manner and every time I hear her say it I can't help but think of my Mum!

What really does my head in is news reporters holding their hands in front of themselves like they have severe arthritis and gesticulating while they talk about something they have no idea about... STOP IT!!!

My number one pet hate is the Politician who agrees with someone, accepts that their argument is valid, states that "someone" should do "something" about it; and then walks away in the full knowledge that he or she is the "someone" who should be doing "something" about it!

Grrrr!

What gets on my nerves, as well as the aforementioned 'begin the sentence with so' is when politicians use the phrase 'you know', e.g.

Interviewer 'What is your opinion of xyz?'

Politician 'Well Steve, you know, blaa blaa

No Steve doesn't frigging know, that's why he asked your opinion you moron.

I watch welsh tv. Doesn't happen in the welsh language

Hey, that's brilliant! I've only ever watched Pro 12 rugby games on SC4, understanding little. Maybe having politics in Welsh is the way forward. Or Gaelic, although "few have the Gaelic, you know, nowadays".
