Now I’m in the throws and chucking 5kg of spent grain into the bin each two weeks ... I’m thinking it needs to be re cycled.

I’ve seen and possibly asked before .. but recipes for dog goodies ?

I've been thinking exactly the same, and have been meaning to try the following recipe:

But by the time I have finished my brew day and in the middle of tidy up, I tend to lose motivation to start making dog biscuits. Besides there is a limit to the mess that my wife will tolerate.

I’m going to try them next brew - will let you know how they go down with the pooch.

I made those once for my parents dog and it absolutely loved them.

I made spent grain biscuits for my dog but can't find the specific recipe. There are probably a lot on Google. He really liked them, we put peanut butter in them which dogs love. Although I think spent grain is still quite fatty.

Most my spent grain ends up in compost, it's considered 'green' compost which is great as everything else tends to be 'brown'. It's also possible to make human biscuits with it and also use it in bread. If you know anyone with chickens it makes good feed for them and you could trade it for fresh eggs.

My chickens go mad for it when it's still warm.

I've made the dog treats too. I chucked some of the grain in a zip lock bag and kept it in the fridge. Because as @MagnusTS said, by the end of the day I cba.

The rest I give to local small holdings or compost. Dependng on where you live, the local wildlife might enjoy some grains too, esp deer and ducks.

I sometimes make them by using a couple of kilos mixed with peanut butter, eggs and flour mixed until it dry enough to mould. The hound absolutely loves them.
