This guide covers the standard 'budget' home brew '5 gallon' pressure barrel (PB) widely available in homebrew shops and on-line, typically for about£25 to £35. It might be of use to people thinking about buying one or new owners who want to get the best out of it. It does not cover the more...
I had four PBs once of the sort you look to have. They all split or developed pin hole leaks within 2 years of first use. So now I have none, nor will I be getting any more.
However for £20 definitely worth a punt. Best of luck with them
If you're doing kits you're best off with a dry hop or hop tea to add towards the end of fermentation..this will give you lots of flavour and aroma without bitterness. All grain or extract "from scratch" usually has various hop additions during the boil to add the bitterness as well as flavour and aroma. The combination is endless!
