Hi Guys

Brewing a Ruby bitter on Sunday.
My Recipes are generally done by experience so colour, malt and IBU is done trial and error to my taste.
I do like hoppy beers... could some one calculate the IBU of this recipe please

9Kg Pale Malt
200g Chocolate Malt
250g Flaked Barley

Mash 90 Mins

1tsp mag Sulphate
4tsp Cal Sulphate
1tsp Common Salt

90 Mins Kettle Hops EKG 200g
15 Mins EKG 50g
Irish moss

Brew length 12 gallons
Yeast SO4

Do you have an alpha acid figure for your hops Bones?

Making some assumptions such as an efficiency of 75% and a boil volume of 60L and an aa of 5% for your goldings would give about 45 IBU :thumb:

Well sadly the brew was spoilt :(
I pitch the yeast then worked away for the week returned to find the yeast didn't kick off...
The top of the brew looked awful... white sticky gluey mould..
Anyway i skimmed and rousted the brew and repitched with yeast...
I had nothing to lose...
The brew fermented down...
The brew had turned sour.... :(
Just for the record there were a lot of fruit fly around the brew....

On the upside :D
i plan to brew next weekend...

Yeah... i must say i'm gutted...
We all enjoy the days brew...
But the finished product is the real trophy....
I made something similar in the summer and it was a Gem...

as i said i will prepare for next week....
Its Christmas coming and i wont go dry...
