Hi Guys

Tried first post asking for CO2 in Teeside , Found old post about one in sunderland can drive up there if nothing closer .Is there any online supplier any one recommends ?

When looking at the Sunderland site C02 and Mixed Gas it says "some of the lagers are still on the Co2 but we can advise you if you need to switch to the new trend of 60/40 gas. " .What gas would i need to buy and what size cylinder ?

Just starting out in home brew My plan is to buy a cornelius keg and a second hand fridge ,for brewing thinking of getting a Fermzilla all rounder and start doing some kits then move on to a Robobrew for all grains .Any comments or tip appreciated.

Thanks for any assistance

Pure CO2 is what you need, no need for mixed. The nitrogen in mixed gas is to allow a much longer line length and higher pressure whilst maintaining dissolved CO2.

Have a look for welding gas, fire extinguisher companies or even diving gas suppliers near you 👍. Failing that you can mail order Boc CO2 but it’s expensive for the deposit on the bottle

I don't have corny kegs myself so probably not the best person to ask. But I guess it comes down to your anticipated usage. I believe the deposit on the cylinder is refundable with Adams Gases so you can always trade up or down if your initial choice is too big or small for your needs

So it depends if you intend to put the CO2 cannister into the kegetaror or not. I use 3kg cannisters because I can fit it in my kegerator then. A 6.35kg cannister is big and you'll need it outside of the kegerator.

6.35kg are easier to get hold of (unless the OP already has a source for a smaller bottle). Mine will fit in my tall fridge but will reduce space for kegs so I’ve situated it outside with JG reducers taking the line from 3/8 to 3/16 to fit through the drain hole.

My two pence worth is the 6kg size unless you live close to a supplier or can be in on delivery day just for the convenience of not swapping it over too often. I have 2 kegs and beside gas leaks I get at least 6 months supply from 1 cylinder which includes gassing out oxygen when just kegging the beer cleaning beer lines etc and carbonation of beer. I only brew a couple of times a month.
