If customers pay for testing and if it doesn't stop others getting results back quickly I don't see a problem but that's a lot of if

I guess you will have people looking for quick test results but have no booking.
What about staff?
I think its a long way off getting a thumbs up and a lot of issues will need sorting out as it says below "it has not yet made clear the finer details of the plans" but they need to get businesses running again or they will all be bankrupt.

Depends what grants they are getting. I have heard of a lot of businesses that are better off via the grants and furlough schemes this includes pubs
I don't doubt some are but this cannot go on indefinitely or the country will be bankrupt.
I don't think its likely for pubs, the grants I have got roughly cover the rent and lost beer for times I have been closed and employee furlough. If I had been trading for an extra 3 years I would be able to get another 80% of 6 months earnings and 60% of another 3 months (from the self employment grant) which would make me slightly better off if I could open by next year but I'm not optimistic about that. In comparison the takeaway next door did get the same £10,000 grant and never had to close and if the did close for a week 3 times due to Covid could claim the self employment one as well (I think).

A FUMING restaurant boss today hit out at Covid Marshall 'bullies' who he says tried to stop him offering customers a free Scotch egg meal with their alcoholic drinks.
Tim Roberts, 62, says he was visited by two 'black-booted bouncers' in hi-viz jackets shortly after advertising his meal offer on social media earlier this month.
The marshalls said they were investigating whether he was offering a 'substantial meal' with booze as demanded by Tier Two restrictions.
But Tim – owner of the no 29 bar and restaurant in up-market Burnham, Norfolk – refused the pair entry and after a confrontation escorted them off his premises.
The former fireman said: “They said they wanted to come in but I said they did not have the right of entry.
“They were demanding to see what I was offering as a meal.
"It was bullying and harassment at best.
“These two guys each weighed 16 or 17 stone and were in black boots, black combat trousers with cameras strung around their necks.
“They are basically bouncers recruited from a local security firm.
“They were obstructing the doorway and intimidating my customers.
“I called the police and when they saw me talking on the phone, they both left in their little Fiesta and drove off.
“It's all very heavy handed and all because we offered a free Scotch egg meal and the council don't like it.”
Mr Roberts said his bar and restaurant had been closed since March 24 and he desperately trying to re-open to build up his trade.

Mrs Stu felt unwell and had a test which came back positive. I had a bit of a cough yesterday, hardly even noticeable but went for a test which came back positive.

He's trying to evade the rules. The (edit: original) mention of "a scotch egg" was in the context of a side-dish to a substantial meal. People like this are IMO at least partly responsible for the number of infections, and resultant disabilities and deaths. Disgraceful.

Non-essential shops will close across the country from Wednesday, as will schools, with children to be cared for at home wherever possible.
Chancellor Angela Merkel blamed Christmas shopping for a "considerable" rise in social contacts.
The latest figures showed 20,200 more infections and a further 321 deaths.
The new lockdown will run from 16 December to 10 January. Announcing the move after meeting leaders of the country's 16 states, Mrs Merkel said there was "an urgent need to take action".
Restaurants, bars and leisure centres have already been closed since November, and some areas of the country had imposed their own lockdowns.
Under the national lockdown, essential shops, such as those selling food, will stay open, as can banks. Outlets selling Christmas trees can also continue trading. Hair salons are among the businesses which must close.
Companies are being urged to allow employees to work from home.
Care homes will be authorised to carry out coronavirus tests. New Year events and the sale of fireworks will be banned. Drinking of alcohol in public places, such as popular mulled wine stalls, is also forbidden.
Finance Minister Olaf Scholz said affected businesses would receive up to 500,000 euros (£457,000, $605,000) in government support per month.
A maximum of five people from no more than two households are allowed to gather in a home. This will be relaxed from 24 to 26 December - one household can invite a maximum of four close family members from other households.
Bavaria is extending a night curfew from areas with high infection rates to the whole state - the second most populous in Germany.
Chancellor Merkel said it was the government's job to "prevent an overload of our health systems and that's why there is an urgent need to take action".
The latest official figures on Sunday showed 20,200 more infections, bringing Germany's total to date to more than 1.3 million. The death toll has risen by 321 to 21,787, the Robert Koch Institute says
Germany had been seen as relatively successful in controlling the pandemic compared with European neighbours, thanks in part to testing and tracing. But there is a growing recognition among political leaders that what was dubbed "lockdown lite" has not achieved enough.
"If we're not careful, Germany could quickly become Europe's problem child," Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder warned. "For that reason, we had to and we must act." He did not rule out Germany extending lockdown beyond 10 January.

Its not looking good for England now. It seems to have started in north Kent where cases were rising throughout lockdown 2 (when the rest of the country had cases dropping massively almost universally) then roughly going to the tiers cases started rising into mid Kent then quickly to all of Kent, Essex and east London. Then only 3ish days ago I notice that every county bordering the M25 has cases rising along with most counties bordering them and all of east Anglia and now it seems almost everywhere in the south east 1/4 of the country has cases rising quickly and almost nowhere are they falling, half the south west has cases increasing again and though the Northern half of the country still has cases falling overall, a week ago they were falling off a cliff almost universally.
So questions are:
How were cases rising in North Kent during lockdown 2?
Why is the South getting its second wave later than the North despite restrictions being heavier?
Are lockdowns and tier restrictions really doing much when Kent had cases rising quickest when it was in the strictest tier?
