Can't see the point in most domestic chores, however a crate of glistening PBW cleaned bottles brings a certain kind of satisfaction.

Bottled some GH smoked porter earlier today. I never clean bottles. I just rinse them out after pouring a beer
I do the same but noticed some looking a bit dubious recently when held up to the light. My bottle storage facility (garage) tends to suffer from damp air in the cooler months so not taking any chances.

I did that for a great many years without problems but eventually the bottles got thick crusty yeast deposits all up the sides. These days I just fill the bottles with washing soda solution which dissolves all traces after a couple of hours. No scrubbing necessary.

I seem to be doing fine for the time being but I'll definately keep the soda solution in mind should it become necessary

I rinse mine out, put a squirt of Na2S2O5 solution in and crimp a used cap on. Bottling day is just de-capping, a quick pour and rinse, and fill them all up.

I've been collecting bottles ready for my first brew and gotta admit that the thought of cleaning and sanitising the lot seemed like a huge chore! Some good tips there :cheers3:

The more I have to bottle the less I home brew. Caused a hiatus in the hobby on more than one occasion over the years. Sacked it off almost entirely now luckily. I used to prepare one bucket of knock off oxyclean, one of water and finally one of sanitiser. Soak in the oxyclean, finger in the end, quick shake. Dip and rinse in the water, repeat the finger routine. Dip and rinse in the sanitiser, again with the finger and onto the bottle tree. Kind of envy those people with dish washers because that always looked easier.
