Effin Oatmeal Stout, why so pale?

I'm looking at making the Effin Oatmeal Stout for my next brew, but when I add the recipe to BeerSmith2 it's coming out pretty pale for a stout. Have I done something wrong? The recipe I've put in is:

2.91kg Maris Otter 5.9 EBC
0.56kg Flaked Barley 3.3 EBC
0.34kg Malted Oats (these will be toasted porridge oats) 2.0 EBC
0.27kg Roasted Barley 1000 EBC

54g Bramling Cross 90mins
0.5 protofloc tablet 15mins

Danstar Windsor yeast, rehydrated but not with a starter.

I've been getting 80% efficiency for my last couple of brews, and so I'm expecting roughly 1.043 for an OG.
Beersmith tells me this recipe should only give 41.4 EBC, which is below the bottom of the sliding scale it shows for a typical oatmeal stout, and the picture it generates of the beer is more like a Newcastle Brown.
 
Looks to me like u forgot the crystal malt...doh moment lol :O still at least u noticed it looked funny and got it checked_ i could be wrong like but here what i found:

Great stuff, cheers. I just found that thread myself actually, it looks like the recipe has changed quite a bit from the original in the database. I'm now going to do the following for a 23l brew length:
Pale 4100
Roasted barley 270
Flaked barley 250
Crystal 330
Brown 330
Choc 190
Flaked oats (toasted) 750
 
The recipe posted by wilsoa1111 was one aleman sent me with modifications, I have done it s few times and have also played around with it a little. It is by far the best stout I have tried. By the way my recipe was for 55L.

The above recipe is coming out better on the colour cheers, but it's strong as holy hell!
I'm getting:
28.1 IBU
66.5 EBC
Est OG 1.066
Est ABV 6.78%

Will there be any issues if I just get beersmith to recalculate the quantities for a more sensible 5ish percent beer?

Also, with the glucan rest, do I take the 20% of the oat weight in pale malt from the main grain bill or is it an extra amount?

I'd go for about 5.5% :thumb:

It's from the main grain bill :thumb:

Exceptionally nice beer. Once you have brewed this you will never drink a pint of Guinness again. :thumb:
 
OK, after too many tweaks I've decided on this final recipe. Can anyone see any problems with it?

Apologies for the amount of times I've bumped this thread, but this is the most complicated beer I've attempted so far, and I really want to get it right.
