Started my second brew tonight. A wilkos velvet stout kit which I’m hoping to have ready for Christmas.

Sanitised everything and decided to try bottled water this time. Pitched a little hotter than I’d like but took more care than the instructions suggested.

1 tin Wilkos velvet stout

1kg Muntons brew enhancer

3l volvic boiled

4.5l volvic

15l Aldi spring water

SG 1034

Yeast pitched at 26 degrees

I’ve hit the should I bottle it point. Been in the FV for two weeks. Smells amazing. Gravity at 1011 when the instructions say 1008.

Guess I’ll take a couple more readings over the weekend and see if anything changes.

I bottled a wilko velvet stout on 13th. Also used 1kg of muntons brew enhancer, but brewed short to 18l. I used Harris pure brew too to try to keep the twang away. Mine got down to 1006 after 2 weeks in the fv. My plan is to try a first taster when I finish work for Christmas (23rd). If its ready, then it'll take a hammering over Christmas. It'd be good to hear how yours goes.
Cheers,
Biffa
