I’m converting a tea urn with inkbird or old generation grainfather controller and well would rather not drill out original tap hole to take a 1/2” (21mm drill) thermowell if I can. Yes I’d have no tap outlet! However, 1/4 thermowells to take 6mm probe seem rare so expect I’d be looking at specialist suppliers.
The grainfather thermowell (although expensive spare ) looks to be a 1/4” ish thermowell taking a 6mm probe. Looking at a YouTube video screenshot assuming the probe is 6mm Outer diameter and plastic probe cover about 9mm diameter I make the thermowell thread diameter around 13mm ish. I am surprised at measurements not coming back to an off the shelf 1/2” thermowell (21mm drill size) on the grainfather. But then again the grainfather does seem well thought out.
To check I haven’t messed the sums up Is anyone able to check ? Please don’t dismantle your thermowell as the thread outer diameter should be accessible. Well atleast from what I can tell.
In the medium term I’ll probably get a grainfather.
