I work colleague has a hop plant on his allotment, and is bringing me a bag of hops in to work.
What's the best way to store these.
Dry or freeze ?

I grow my own hops. What I do is dry them out for a few days until they feel dry. I then vacuum seal them and then freeze them. I brewed yesterday using last years crop and the hops looked and smelt just fine after a year stored like this.

My office smells lovelly

I made tow hop teas this morning, both with the same grams of hops , same sized cup, same amount of water, even stirred with the same sized spoon.
Allowed to steep for a few minutes.
One with Kent Goldings, the other with the donated unknown hop.

The Kent Golding had a typical hop aroma, and bitterness.
The donated hop smelt of wet cabbage and was flavourless.

Needless to say, I've opted to brew with the Golding.

The donated hops are now stored in B 1 N
