Hello,

I've just registered because I've been trawling the internet for brewing ideas. I've got my first home brew bubbling away based on malt extract and some hops and extra maltose and a top brewed yeast.
I figured that as it is summer top brew was the way to go. Hopefully this will be drinkable! We'll see.

However, why I really joined this forum is to seek out people who are into quirky beers. These days, and especially where I live, there are more and more interesting beers coming out of micro-breweries, so I can't see the point of trying to replicate these - I can buy them.

However, what I can't buy are many sour beers (difficult to find), gruits (almost impossible to find), other herbal beers, say Elder or juniper.

That's all for now.

Hi and welcome!

I know there have been a few gruits and bragotts brewed recently, have a good trawl through the brewday posts and you should find them. :thumb:

welcome! yeah a few people got interested in braggots. I havnt brewed one in years myself but its a wonderful winter drink, you can even brew up a gallon just by taking a few litres of your wort from a beer you're brewing, adding honey and fermenting like that! must do it next time...

perhaps you can search for "bacon beer" and "cock ale" on here
