Help! Newb brew going off the rails.

Checked my receipt, grains were -
Base Malts:Crisp Europils Malt (EBC 2.5-3.5)[6Kg][0G],
Caramel Malts:Weyermann CaraAmber Malt (EBC 60 - 80)[.5Kg][0G], Crisp Cara Gold Malt (EBC 12-16)[.5Kg][0G],
Flaked Malts:Rice Hulls[1Kg][0G],

That looks like the output from a Geterbrewed recipe kit, are you sure you ordered your grains separately and haven’t somehow stumbled into the recipe builder in error? That would explain the grains coming mixed in one bag.

I might be completely wrong, I haven’t used their recipe builder for about a year, but that’s what the stickers on the bags always looked like and they tend to push the Crisp malts.

I'm a little confused by the OP, you said you ordered 8kg of grain in total, you filled your boiler which has a 10kg capacity, and had 6kg left over??

Whatever happened, different grains should absolutely not be mixed together in one bag, unless as MickDundee says you ordered a build-your-own-recipe kit.

Unless he actually did use 10kg; 25L at 1.090 would be a BHE of about 71%, which is plausible I suppose. But in that case he must have started with 16Kg if he had 6 left over?? This is a more intriguing mystery than the Mary Celeste :tinhat:
