Had a couple of hours 'off' today so got to work on the first elements of my AG setup. Managed to get a two 40L Buffalos on offer from Nesbits:

First, remove the tap and increase the size of the hole:

Fit the new connector up

And on with the ball valve

A 5mm hole to house the thermometer

In with the connector:

Fit the probe:

How the internals look, works a treat:

Now, on with the boiler - the bits I need. Trimmed the copper Tee and connected it up after installing a ball valve like the one on the HLT.

A test run, all OK!

Next, the mash tun build, then I'll be in business!

Finally, thanks to many people here on the HBF for advice on this, especially Vossy, Baz Chaz, Jonnymorris, Kev, Easy Peasie, Piddledribble and Frisp!

Very good Rich. :thumb:

Where did you get the thermometer and connectors from?

Hi Joey, the thermometer was from Amazon and the connectors from BES, part nos 9974 and 9966

and here's you telling everyone you were incompetent with DIY

Looks great!
Can you tell me where you got the spikey bits that the mesh hose goes on to?
I've been looking for those all over and haven't been able to find them anywhere!
Are they called hose unions?
Thanks.

Hi. They are called Hose Tail Adapters (1/2 inch BSP) and I bought them from BES online. They have a search function on their site.
Let me know if you can't find them and I'll find out the part no.
Rich

Nice one buddy, won't be long before it's used in anger I'm sure
